Manufacturing of machine components and standard machine delivery for HangOn

We at Axelent Engineering are proud to have HangOn as one of our long-standing customers. Get to know the exciting company that produces suspension systems and masking solutions for the painting industry, and how we have had the privilege of being part of their development journey from the very beginning.

HangOn is now run by the three Törefors brothers, who took over from their father, Håkan Törefors. What was initially called Törestorps Tråd has today grown into a large global company, with 80-85% of its products being exported. As part of this transformation, the company adopted the more internationally resonant name, HangOn. They primarily produce various types of suspension systems and masking solutions for the painting industry, which help to streamline and improve the results of the painting process.

The first products for the painting industry were manufactured in the mid-1970s. In 1989, a new generation took over the company, and since then, development has progressed rapidly. Axelent Engineering, in a way, has had a relationship with HangOn almost since the beginning. Part of what is now Axelent Engineering has its roots in Nittorps Mekaniska. Some of HangOn’s very first machines came from Nittorps Mekaniska, and remarkably, the machine marked with number 1 is still in use today, producing hooks. Several of the earliest machines are, in fact, still in operation.

Significant development of production

"There are actually things these old machines can do that we feel no new machine can solve in quite the same way. So, despite producing at a relatively slow pace and having certain limitations, they are still in use and producing for us," says Fredrik Häljestig, Technical Manager at HangOn.

What is now Axelent Engineering consists of several previously independent machine builders, which is why some relationships, like the one with HangOn, have lasted for such a long time. Today, in addition to machines, Axelent Engineering also delivers components, spare parts, and tools.

"In recent years, we have been, and still are, in a major transformation and expansion phase where significant changes have taken place in our production. This has meant that we have had almost continuous contact with Axelent Engineering regarding various needs in our production. This involves both the development of existing machines, which require a lot of maintenance, and more urgent needs, such as spare parts or components."

When HangOn contacts our manufacturing department, they provide self-designed CAD drawings, from which the parts are produced. HangOn also produces some parts themselves, but when they are busy, they may need to hire Axelent Engineering.

"The advantages of hiring Axelent Engineering are good quality, reliable deliveries, and quick service. The geographical proximity is also a security factor for us. It is a long-term relationship where we have come to know each other and understand each other's needs. There is a good dialogue, primarily with Jimmy but also with Jörgen in the manufacturing department. It's always a constructive conversation with room for flexibility."

Standard machine

FTX16 machine from Numalliance to HangOn

Axelent Engineering has recently delivered a standard machine of the FTX16 type from Numalliance to HangOn. It was a replacement for an older machine that had become outdated and slow. The old machine could bend up to a maximum of 13 mm wire, but they needed one that could handle up to 16 mm and, at the same time, gained a more efficient machine capable of running smaller series.

"We have up to eight machines that we previously purchased directly from Numalliance, but with an agent nearby at the same cost, where we have an established partnership, it felt like the obvious choice. At the same time, we have the security of having everything managed by Axelent Engineering, with the convenience of having a contact in Sweden instead of abroad. Since we have several machines of the same type, it also makes training and maintaining the machine easier for our staff."
